Yoga for the lower back
Yoga therapy has shown to improve back pain, stabilizing, strengthening and balancing the musculature of the back, as well as decompressing the spine.
This workshop will combine yin yoga with yoga therapy. This will be a soft practice to help relax and open up the body, and decompress the spine. We will talk about the powerful effects of breathing techniques, meditations and the specific yin yoga postures we practice on pain and relief of discomfort.
This workshop is also suitable for individuals interested in back pain prevention. Particularly helpful for people who both have desk jobs, and who do heavy labor and/or repetitive tasks.
About our guest teacher Katherine Walker:
Katherine is an experienced yoga teacher (300 E-RYT), and Nutritionist (MSc). Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, USA, she came to Belgium at the age of 26 to complete her masters in Public Health Nutrition, and to work as a Health Researcher. She fell in love with Ghent – and stayed! Teaching yoga slowly became more than a part-time hobby job. 8 years later, and now a full-time yoga teacher – she teaches workshops, weekly classes and leads yearly yoga retreats in Europe.
